Remote care for newborns
Neolook is an innovative start-up focused on improving care within Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Units (NICU/PICU). By combining video-augmented services with smart sensors and AI-powered analysis, Neolook helps to improve the quality of care and reduce staff workload.
This technology makes it possible to provide better support to healthcare professionals, whilst allowing parents to remain involved with their newborn child from a distance.
The challenge
To bring this vision to life, Neolook needed its own hardware product that would work seamlessly with its software platform. The challenge lay in developing an integrated system that combines high-resolution camera images with sensor data, whilst meeting the requirements of a medical environment.
PEZY was asked to design this hardware product — Neolook One — and oversee its development.

Approach
As a product development partner, PEZY has adopted a human-centred design process. Through interviews, observations and tests, insights have been gained into the needs and working methods of various stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and parents.
These insights formed the basis for the design, which focused on both user-friendliness and technical and medical requirements. In addition, support was provided in the area of Medical Device Regulation (MDR) to ensure compliance with the applicable regulations.

Result
Neolook One represents a significant step forward in the development of data-driven care within the NICU and PICU. By combining video-augmented monitoring with sensor data, the system supports healthcare professionals in their work and contributes to more efficient care processes.
At the same time, the product enables parents to be more involved and offers new opportunities for clinical and scientific research. In this way, Neolook One makes a valuable contribution to the care of newborns.
