What is product design?
Product design, or product development, is the process that turns an abstract idea into a physical product people actually want to use.
It starts with understanding real needs and finishes with a design that is ready for production, scalable and compliant with all relevant standards.
At PEZY we combine classic industrial design principles with contemporary methods. The focus is always on balancing function, form and meaning. Design Thinking, Lean and circular design principles help us translate that balance into concrete choices.
Function
Function ensures the product performs reliably and makes no compromises on safety or efficiency.
Form
Form makes the product intuitive and attractive, so the user can pick it up and use it straight away.
Meaning
Meaning gives the product soul: it builds trust, reduces stress or strengthens the sense of quality. When function, form and meaning come together, something emerges that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Design Thinking
We investigate people’s needs and the contexts in which they use products. Empathy and ideation help us ask the right question and explore multiple solution directions.
Lean design
Lean provides speed and focus. Through small, targeted experiments we test assumptions and use feedback to improve the design step by step.
Circular design
Circular design principles help limit environmental impact. We consider material choices, lifespan, reparability and what happens to the product after use from an early stage.

We have been guiding companies for more than thirty years from the first sketch to mass production. Our team of over fifty people – industrial designers, mechanical engineers, UX specialists, materials scientists and prototype builders – work under one roof. From CE-certified medical devices to sustainable consumer products and high-tech systems: we bring ideas to market that are both technically sound and commercially strong. For PEZY, product design is a dynamic process of observing, listening and experimenting. We investigate how people use a product, what problems they experience and what their expectations are. Through interviews, observations, contextual analyses and user validations we gather insights that form the basis for the design. We translate those insights into concepts, prototypes and test models. Prototyping is a crucial part of our approach: it makes ideas tangible, testable and discussable. By building, testing and rebuilding we refine both form and function step by step. We empathise not only with the end user, but also with our client and the manufacturer. Which technical requirements are relevant? How do we ensure the product is reliable, safe and manufacturable? By integrating all perspectives from the start, a process emerges in which creativity, engineering and strategy reinforce each other.
