Neolook is an innovative start-up that focuses on pushing the boundaries of medical technology in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit). By offering video-augmented services in combination with smart sensors and AI-supported analysis, Neolook improves the quality of care and makes a valuable contribution to reducing the workload in neonatal and paediatric care through automation. This has a valuable impact on stakeholders such as parents, academics and healthcare professionals. Parents can stay connected to their newborn babies from anywhere, promoting bonding and family relationships without boundaries. Academics are supported in groundbreaking clinical and scientific research, while professionals benefit from a lower workload.

Neolook develops various solutions and value propositions with advanced software that provides high-resolution camera images and can automate their analysis. PEZY has been asked to assist in the development of Neolook’s own ‘Neolook One’ camera and sensor hardware product. This offers a unique combination of software and hardware that provides high-resolution camera images in combination with sensor data such as light, sound and movement. As an integral product development partner, PEZY is accelerating the healthcare innovation that Neolook wants to bring to market with this product service system.

Collaboration with PEZY

PEZY has gained insight into the product context and the needs, perspectives and pain points of stakeholders. We applied a human-centred design process, conducting user interviews, observations and tests to optimise the user experience for all stakeholders. In addition, we provided support in the area of medical device regulations (MDR) with our expertise in hardware to ensure compliance with strict medical regulations.

The design of Neolook One is aesthetic, intuitive and easy to clean, distinguishing the brand as a well-thought-out tool. We designed it for universal hospital installation, interchangeable sensor positioning, and developed intuitive communication and product handling. Through iterative prototyping, we refined the prototypes and created fully functional demonstrators. Our expertise in manufacturing helped in planning future development phases. Since March 2024, our collaboration with Neolook has intensified, and as a venture partner, we are jointly responsible for the future of the project.

Result

Neolook One marks a major step forward in neonatal and paediatric care by integrating video-augmented monitoring and early symptom detection. The collaboration with PEZY was crucial in realising the complex development and meeting clinical requirements. This innovative product, which caught the attention of the Queen of the Netherlands, sets new standards in medical technology and improves care for newborns. Together, Neolook and PEZY offer solutions that have a real impact on the lives of vulnerable patients.
