Designed and built for life
Circularity is no longer just an option. Sustainability plays a role in everything we develop – and on multiple fronts. Circular product development is essentially about products that are designed and manufactured to last, made from safe, sustainable materials sourced from recycled raw materials. Circular product development goes much further than just using recycled materials. It is about creating products that are designed to last, are easy to repair and can be reused at the end of their life cycle – as a product, as a component or as a raw material. The entire chain has a role to play in “closing the loop”.
The invention of plastic has changed our world enormously. Plastics have brought us many benefits: safety, convenience, affordability and endless design freedom. We can hardly imagine our lives without this versatile material. But ill-considered production, poor design and incorrect processing have led to major environmental problems.
That is precisely why circular product development plays a key role in the use of plastics. Through responsible design, smart material choices and a circular vision, plastics can remain part of a sustainable future. By reusing, recycling and processing plastics into long-lasting products, we can reap the benefits of the material without falling back into disposable behaviour.

Design phase determines 80%
PEZY is closely involved in the theme of Circular Product Design. Did you know that more than 80 percent of a product’s impact on the environment is determined in the design phase? It is not only because we regularly receive questions about this from our clients, but also because we see it as our duty to help bring products into the world that have a major impact on people’s lives, but not on the environment.
We have extensive knowledge in the various aspects of circular product design. PEZY is co-author of the book Design for Recycling – Design from Recycling, which was created as part of the European PolyCE project. Would you like to take your product design and development to a more sustainable and circular level? We would be happy to help.
A future where circularity is the norm
Circularity requires innovation, vision and responsibility. By thinking and designing holistically for the entire product life cycle, we create products that contribute to a sustainable world. We believe that circularity should be the standard: not only for today’s products, but especially for future generations.
