PEZY brings smart engineering to the quantum computers of the future
QuiX Quantum recently installed an important component for its photonic quantum computer: the Feed Forward Control Unit, or FFCU. At PEZY, we are proud to have contributed to both the FFCU and the PACU, two critical systems for this next generation technology.

- PEZY contributed to the development of two critical systems for QuiX Quantum’s photonic quantum computer: the FFCU and the PACU.
- Through mechanical engineering, thermal management and system integration, we deliver reliable hardware that meets the demanding requirements of quantum technology.
- Working closely with QuiX Quantum and Dekimo, we brought together electronics, mechanical enclosure design, cooling and system integration into one robust solution.
- This project demonstrates how PEZY translates complex high tech innovations into manufacturable, reliable systems that are ready for the next stage of development.
Photonic quantum computing is one of the most exciting developments in the technology sector. It uses particles of light, known as photons, and has the potential to perform extremely powerful calculations at room temperature. Controlling such a system requires highly precise control units. This is where PEZY comes in.
From enclosure to fully integrated solution
For the FFCU, we developed a complete 19 inch rack enclosure. We not only ensured that all mechanical components fitted together precisely, but also considered airflow, installed fans and integrated the electrical infrastructure so that the FPGAs could be connected directly.
Everything revolves around stability and reliability in an environment where every detail matters.
For the PACU, or Photonic Assembly Control Unit, we worked closely with Dekimo Goes. They were responsible for the complex electrical engineering, while we focused on the mechanical enclosure and system integration. Making optimal use of the limited available space was an essential requirement.
With support from our toolshop in Groningen, our colleague Johan developed a customised cooling system. By using cooling channels in a smart way, the system does not require liquid cooling. Our experience in thermal management proved highly valuable during this development.

True collaboration makes the difference
What makes this project particularly special is the close collaboration between three parties: QuiX Quantum contributed its quantum and systems engineering expertise, Dekimo Goes handled the electrical engineering and PEZY acted as the mechanical engineering and integration partner.
We do more than develop a robust enclosure. We also consider cable management, PCBA integration, cooling, airflow and safety. This integrated approach is exactly where PEZY adds value.
For us, this project is a great example of how we support high tech companies. Whether it involves advanced prototypes or systems that are ready for series production, we help turn complex ideas into functional and robust hardware.
With the installation of the FFCU, QuiX Quantum has once again taken a significant step forward in the development of photonic quantum computers. We are proud to have contributed to this milestone. Curious about their announcement? Read the full article on the Quix Quantum website.
