From concept to manufacturable product

Translating specifications into a feasible and attractive product concept is a key step. PEZY develops complete electronic products that function excellently from a technical standpoint, are efficient to produce and have a strong visual appeal.

We integrate printed circuit board development (PCBA), enclosure, user interface, software/firmware and product design into one coherent trajectory. For higher volumes (from approx. 1,000 pieces) we use injection moulding and other scalable production techniques.

Material selection and circular solutions

Material selection influences functionality, lifespan, cost and sustainability. PEZY selects materials based on mechanical, thermal, chemical and aesthetic requirements.

Sustainability is an increasingly important focus. We advise on circular and recycled plastics, biobased materials and designs for disassembly and recycling. This way we reduce the CO₂ footprint without compromising on quality or performance.

Prototyping and validation of electronic products

Before a product goes into series production, it is thoroughly validated with prototypes. This ranges from 3D-printed models to functional prototypes and pilot series. In our own production facility in Groningen we can manufacture small series for in-depth testing.

Tooling and preparation for series production

After successful validation, we prepare the product technically for series production. This includes Design for Manufacturing (DFM) optimisation, production drawings, specifications and tooling development.

We determine the best production strategy: in-house at PEZY for smaller series and complex products, or through reliable partners in the Netherlands and Asia for larger volumes.

The process culminates in a Golden Sample. The reference product for the entire series production.

Design for manufacturability

We optimise the design with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) in mind: improved tolerances, assembly options and cost reduction. Components are optimised for injection moulding or other production processes, ensuring smooth and reliable manufacturing.

Production strategy and tooling

We determine where the tooling is developed and production takes place — in-house at PEZY or with reliable partners in the Netherlands and Asia. In-house production offers short communication lines, fast iterations and high quality control (ideal for smaller series). Our partners enable scaling for larger volumes and cost optimisation.

Tooling, samples and golden sample

Once the design and strategy are finalised, we develop the moulds and tooling. The first out of tool samples are produced, thoroughly assessed and optimised where needed. This leads to a definitive golden sample: the reference product that forms the basis for full series production.

Support in the production phase

PEZY actively supports you in supplier selection, technical alignment with manufacturers, further cost price optimisation and sample validation. By aligning design, tooling and the production process perfectly, we create a solid, reliable production chain with minimal risk.

Production and scale-up

After establishing the golden sample, series production can be started. In this phase the focus shifts from development to production, quality assurance and logistics.

PEZY supports customers in starting up and scaling production, both through in-house facilities and international production partners.

This includes, among other things:

  • Quality control and production validation
  • Supply chain and logistics preparation
  • Transport to assembly partners or end customers

By combining local expertise with international production capacity, the right balance can be found for each project between quality, speed and cost.
