Industrial development requires an integrated approach

Technical performance is not separate from user interaction, manufacturing efficiency and lifespan. Together with designers, engineers and makers we work iteratively on solutions you can test. We aim for a manageable process; speed, cost and outcome depend on the brief and the justification of choices.

  • The application as the starting point

We investigate the user, loading and environment and translate these into requirements. Reliability under intensive use requires concrete criteria and appropriate tests.

  • Assessing cost and quality together

Product architecture, materials and assembly influence both performance and cost. We consider the overall production approach, not just a single part.

  • Learning early with prototypes

Rapid models and functional prototypes make uncertainties visible. Tests deliver information for the next decision before a larger investment is made.

  • Including circularity

Repairability, modularity, material choice and recycling are weighed against the industrial requirements and the value chain in which the product is used.

Our development process: developing the right product well

We distinguish two interrelated questions. First we establish which product the user and client need and which concept is feasible. Then we elaborate that concept into a tested, manufacturable design. The process includes deliberate decision points and allows room to adjust based on new findings.

Overview of the PEZY product development process

Design the right industrial product

In the analysis and concept phase we establish the foundation for direction, feasibility and the value the product must offer.

Strategy and analysis

Together with stakeholders we examine user needs, market opportunities and success criteria. Regulation, the supply chain and safety are included as risks and constraints.

Value proposition and route

We connect desirability for the user with technical feasibility and economic viability. A roadmap makes steps and decision points visible.

Concept development

Using design thinking, visualisations and models we explore multiple directions. This makes differences in function, use and technology open to discussion.

Proof and demonstration

Functional prototypes and targeted tests investigate the key assumptions. The results support decisions and communication with investors and manufacturing partners.

Expertise for industrial applications

With more than thirty years of experience we connect product design with material, process and production knowledge. Which combination is required is determined from the industrial brief.

High-tech plastics engineering

Complex injection-moulded parts require coherence between material, design and tooling. We examine weight, strength, chemicals, temperature and pressure and test the chosen solution against the real operating conditions.

Design for Manufacturing

Production costs, assembly time, tolerances and scalability are investigated early. The design is aligned with an existing or new production line.

Electronics and mechatronics

Sensors, embedded software and robust housings are developed in conjunction. We assess interactions and environmental influences such as vibration, dust, moisture and temperature.

Circular development

With the Rapid Assessment Tool (RAT) we investigate opportunities and risks. Recycled materials, modular constructions and Design for Recycling are evaluated for performance and feasibility within the chain.

Rapid tooling and small series

Our own Pilot Factory supports prototypes, test series and first production runs. These can be used for validation, field tests and preparing market introduction.

What this approach can deliver for your organisation

The value lies in well-founded choices and a well-prepared transition to production. We do not make a blanket promise about a fixed percentage of time or cost savings: the outcome is project-specific.

  • Cost control

Smart material, design and process choices can improve total production costs. The implications for quality and performance are taken into account.

  • More focused progress

Iterations and prototyping make it possible to learn earlier and reduce late surprises. The schedule remains linked to the complexity and the validation required.

  • Reliability and differentiation

Traceable testing gives insight into performance. Appropriate user interaction and functional integration can make the product stand out; this is not a guarantee of an uncopyable solution.

  • Longevity and collaboration

Modularity, repairability and material choice support circularity goals. A single collaborating team maintains continuity from strategy and concept through to production preparation.

Why PEZY

Why industrial product development with PEZY?

From Eindhoven, Groningen and the Utrecht region, designers, engineers and makers work on complex products. We combine form, function and manufacturability with prototyping, validation and our own Pilot Factory. PEZY supports both new concepts and the further development of existing solutions. The goal is a well-founded design and a production route that matches your application, volumes and quality requirements.
