Samsonite Inova: ribs that connect form and strength
A signature detail can do more than make a product recognisable. For the Samsonite Inova, PEZY developed side ribs that combine appearance and strength and worked with Samsonite to prepare them for mass production.

A distinctive identity within a minimalist design
Samsonite developed Inova as a high-end luggage range for the Asian market.
The design had to be businesslike and minimalist, while also incorporating a distinctive, robust element. The challenge was to build that differentiation into the form itself and make it suitable for production.

PEZY developed a distinctive rib structure on the side of the suitcase.
The undercut geometry gave the design its own identity while contributing to strength. A visual detail thus also gained a structural function.

In close collaboration with Samsonite, the design was tested, optimised and developed for mass production.
The specific rib shape made manufacturability an essential part of development. The team therefore refined the form in relation to the intended production process.

The design thus combines the businesslike character of the luggage range with functional strength. Its technical development supports use in a product that must be manufactured in large volumes.
