A single coherent process from concept to production
Product development company PEZY: from idea to realisation
Do you have a product idea, want to improve an existing product, or are you looking for a partner for the development process? PEZY connects design, engineering, prototyping and industrialisation. We help you substantiate decisions and prepare the step towards a manufacturable product and an appropriate production approach.
These companies rely on PEZY to turn their product into reality.
From ambition to a well‑founded product concept
A product development company must first understand which problem the product solves. We start with your ambition, the user, the market and the technical challenges. We combine your knowledge with our experience. In short iterations we explore directions and validate assumptions so that further development has a clear foundation.
User needs and market
We map needs and usage scenarios through user research and design thinking. These insights are translated into concrete design directions.
Risks and constraints
Safety, the supply chain, cost price and applicable regulations are addressed early on. CE marking or medical regulations such as the MDR are taken into account when relevant to the product.
Value proposition and roadmap
We connect desirability with technical feasibility and economic viability. Concepts, visualisations and models make choices open to discussion; a roadmap makes decision points visible.
What you can expect from us as a product development company
A usable design, a working prototype and a reproducible production run require different disciplines. At PEZY those disciplines stay connected throughout the process.
-
An integrated approach
Design, engineering, prototyping and industrialisation are addressed together. That keeps knowledge consolidated and reduces the need to re-explain decisions at every handover.
-
More than thirty years' experience
We work on products for consumer, industrial, healthcare and high-tech sectors. Experience with diverse applications helps to recognise relevant questions and development risks early on.
-
Our own Pilot Factory
In Groningen we build prototypes, test series and small production runs. They support technical validation, user testing and the preparation for an initial market launch.
-
Working iteratively
Agile and lean principles help us to explore, build and learn in short cycles. We continually verify whether the solution is desirable, technically feasible and economically appropriate.
-
Incorporating circularity
With the Rapid Assessment Tool we investigate opportunities for material selection, modularity, repair and recycling. These goals are weighed against application and the supply chain; future legislation increasingly requires a separate assessment.
-
A clear point of contact
A joint project team and clear lines of communication support decision-making and visibility of progress. Roles, scope and responsibilities are aligned with the assignment.
Our process: developing the right product properly
First we examine the direction and the assumptions behind the concept. Then we refine the chosen solution into a tested, manufacturable design. Strategy, design, engineering and production preparation form an integrated process, with deliberate decision points and feedback from tests.
From initial research to industrialisation
The required level of detail varies by product. We clarify which questions are answered at each stage and how the outcome is validated.
Design the right product
We investigate needs, market opportunities, safety, regulations and supply-chain risks. A value proposition and roadmap provide direction. Design thinking, models and functional prototypes help compare concepts and validate the key assumptions.
Develop the product properly
Mechanics, electronics and software are developed with attention to interfaces and Design for Manufacturing. Prototypes and demonstrators support relevant pressure, temperature and lifespan testing.
Prepare for production
Final engineering includes DFM, DFA, tooling, quality agreements and supply-chain preparation. Depending on the need, small production runs can help test the transition to larger-scale manufacturing.
Expertise that links design and production
A product requires more than isolated specialist solutions. We examine the interplay between materials, engineering, use and subsequent production.
Plastics engineering
Complex injection-moulded parts require expertise in materials and tooling. We assess strength, weight, environmental resistance and processability with respect to the specific application.
Design for Manufacturing and Recycling
Cost, assembly, tolerances and scalability are linked early on with circularity. A design is aligned with the production and recycling route that is actually available.
Electronics and mechatronics
Sensors, embedded software and enclosures are designed together. Vibration, dust, moisture and temperature are included in the requirements and validation.
Circular product development
Modularity, suitable recycled materials and disassembly can support lifespan and material recovery. The RAT helps to discuss opportunities and risks early on.
Rapid prototyping and small production runs
The Pilot Factory supports models, test runs and initial batches for validation and field testing. The results assist the handover to an appropriate series production.
Why PEZY
Working with an experienced product development company
PEZY brings design, engineering and production preparation together. Our multidisciplinary teams support both new product ideas and the improvement of existing designs. We combine experience in consumer products, industry, healthcare and high-tech with a practical approach using prototypes, tests and our own Pilot Factory. This way the route to a manufacturable product is substantiated step by step.
