Braster: from measurement technology to a product for home use

Braster wanted to translate its measurement technology into a product that people can use at home. PEZY combined engineering, ergonomics and digital interaction in a single development process. Electronics, enclosure, app and packaging were developed in parallel and were production-ready within a year.

Introductie

The technology existed. Now the complete product does too.

The Polish scale-up Braster developed a device that records the temperature distribution of the breasts. To bring that technology to a product for home use, the physical components, controls and the app needed to align. Braster asked PEZY to help make that transition.

Kernresultaten

Production-ready within a year

Electronics, enclosure, app and packaging developed for the next step towards production.

30% shorter development time

The PEZY project case reports this reduction through parallel development.

One coherent design

Technology, ergonomics, functional performance and the app were developed as a whole.

01 · De uitdaging

A measurement principle is not yet a ready-to-use product

The technology needed to become part of a design for home use.

Ergonomics, functional performance and the app had to come together for that. The development brief covered both the device and the digital interaction: electronics and enclosure had to match the way people operate the product.

02 · De rol van PEZY

Developing the components as one product

PEZY helped Braster make the technology production-ready.

We combined technology, ergonomics, functionality and the app into an integrated design. The development covered electronics, enclosure, packaging and the app. The collaboration therefore focused on the complete product and the coherence between the parts.

03 · De aanpak en het inzicht

Developing in parallel, with coherence in view

The product components, app and packaging were developed simultaneously.

The approach connected the physical and digital development within the same programme. This allowed the different components to be developed as parts of one product, while the packaging was also prepared. According to the project case, this parallel approach shortened the total development time.

04 · De oplossing

A device and an app that work together

The design links the measurement function with a product for home use.

The electronics and enclosure form the physical device; the app is part of the user interaction. The packaging was also developed within the same product development. In this way technology, ergonomics and functional performance come together in one design.

05 · Het resultaat

Production-ready within a year

Electronics, enclosure, packaging and app were production-ready within a year.

The PEZY case reports a 30% shorter development time because these components were developed in parallel. In doing so, the collaboration helped Braster move from an existing technology to a developed product that was prepared for production.

Your product question
