Wavin Tigris MX: a connection tested against assembly variation
A pipe connection must cope with pressure, temperature and differences in assembly. PEZY helped Wavin develop the Tigris MX and supplied prototype moulds and plastic parts to thoroughly test the critical choices.

A connection that copes with temperature, pressure and assembly
Wavin developed the Tigris MX to connect plastic-aluminium pipes in hot and cold water installations indoors.
The coupling had to cope with temperature fluctuations, pressure cycles and differences in assembly. That variation had to be accounted for in both design and testing.

Complementing the Wavin team in design and engineering
PEZY worked at Wavin and in its own facilities on development and engineering.
We developed conceptual solutions for subfunctions, including the locking mechanism. We also supported the industrial design of the plastic ring, including styling, surface finishing and in-mould branding.

03 · De aanpak en het inzicht
Make enough variants to test thoroughly
In our own toolshop we made prototype moulds for the plastic ring and produced parts.
This provided design and material variants in sufficient numbers for extensive verification tests. The physical parts thus supported assessing and refining the design.
04 · De oplossing
A metal fitting with plastic locking
The final solution connects the pipe ends with an internal fitting of a copper alloy.
A plastic ring is pressed axially over the connection on both sides. The ring prevents the coupling from loosening. The material and shape of that ring are therefore decisive for the operation of the connection.

From development variants to market introduction
The combination of concept development, prototype moulds and testing supported the final Tigris MX solution.
PEZY also assisted the Wavin team with the introduction to the Polish market. The project demonstrates how quickly available test parts contribute to a well-founded product development.
